The 20-Something Guy Spotlight: Michael Radford

The 20-Something Guy Spotlight: Michael Radford

When I first started my series, the “20-Something Girl Spotlight,” my goal was to highlight women in my life who inspire me.  I thought that my followers were mostly female and that they would appreciate learning from other women’s experiences, and they did!  But what I didn’t realize was that I also had a large male following.  Several of them have reached out and asked me to put more guy centered topics on the blog.  So, I decided to start with a “20-Something Guy Spotlight.”

The 20-Something's Guide to throwing a Fourth of July Party!

The 20-Something's Guide to throwing a Fourth of July Party!

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays because not only does it celebrate our incredible country, but it is also in my mind, the epitome of summer! I love nothing more than hosting a BBQ with great food, drinks, music and friends.

For the past few years, I have been out of town for this holiday weekend, but this year I’ll be home with my precious pup Winston. My parents are heading to Tahoe with their friends so I decided that it would be the perfect chance for me to host my first Fourth of July Backyard Party.

Those who know me well, know that I tend to go all out when it comes to hosting and decorating parties (Check out my post on the Fiesta I threw a couple of months back). So, this will be no different.

This is what I am planning for my Fourth of July celebration:

The 20-Something goes Wine Tasting in Livermore

The 20-Something goes Wine Tasting in Livermore

Being raised in Northern California meant that I developed an appreciation for great wine early on.  Trips to Napa and Sonoma were always on the list of places to visit when friends and family came into town, and my dad quickly became a wine connoisseur. What I didn’t understand until recently though, was that there are some fantastic wineries outside of the Wine Country that people don’t usually think of.

The 20-Something throws a Pizza Party

The 20-Something throws a Pizza Party

Growing up, my parents loved to throw backyard parties with all of our friends. So, I naturally picked up this trait as well. One thing that I believe helps to make a backyard party even more fun is when you get everyone involved in the cooking process. A few years ago, my parents installed a wood fired oven in our backyard and we soon became the go-to home for summer because we would have pizza making parties!

A Summer of Mini Adventures Pre "Real World"

A Summer of Mini Adventures Pre "Real World"

Now that I am home from Mexico, and settling into post-grad life, I have been thinking about mini trips I want to take before I start working full-time in the fall. Even though I grew up in California, I sometimes feel like I have not taken the time to fully explore the state now that I am older.

I am working part-time this summer at the company I worked for last year, so that leaves plenty of time for weekend adventures with friends.

Here are some of the places I am planning weekend getaways to:

The 20-Something's Week in Paradise

The 20-Something's Week in Paradise

I am so sorry that I have not been very active on my blog recently! After graduation I spent a few days in Charlotte with my extended family, and then flew back down to Playa del Carmen, Mexico for 10 days of pure bliss.  I think that I needed a little bit of time to just unplug (except from Instagram haha) and fully take in the experience without being tied to my computer each evening. And I have to say, I am so glad that I did just that.

The 20-Something Girl Graduates from College

The 20-Something Girl Graduates from College

It has been a few days since I graduated from Wake Forest, and I finally had time today to sit down and reflect on the weekend’s festivities. I cannot thank all of my family members who came from San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta and Charlotte to celebrate with me. You all made this weekend so special and one that I will never forget.

Here are some of my favorite moments from the weekend!

A 20-Something Girl's Graduation Fiesta

A 20-Something Girl's Graduation Fiesta

Today is officially my last day of school… ever! So to celebrate, I threw a Fiesta last night to celebrate with some of my closest friends that I made during my time at Wake Forest.  One thing that I have really loved about college, and getting older in general, is that my friends are not confined to my grade level. Some of my closest friends are younger, and I love that it doesn’t matter.  However, because of that, a lot of my friends won’t be around campus during graduation week to celebrate with me so I decided to do it a little early.

If you know me well, you know that there is not much that I love more than a good margarita. So of course I made the party Mexican Fiesta themed!

The Final Countdown to Graduation!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend, and got through the Monday Scaries in one piece. For me, this was the first weekend when it really hit me that I will be graduating. We are officially in the final countdown: 5 days of classes and less than 1 month until graduation! As sad as I am that this chapter is coming to a close, I think that I am at a place where I am ready to move on and see what’s in store for my future. With that being said, I am excited about the next few weeks because we have so many “lasts” and graduation activities coming up!
