Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays not only because of all the bright colors, delicious treats and warm weather that signify the beginning of Spring, but because it is one of the holidays that we always spend with extended family.
If you were anywhere around the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend, then you already know how beautiful it was! We woke up on Saturday morning after a full day of wine tasting in Santa Rosa and decided to head to the coast.
Wow! What a weekend we just had! One of my best friends, Callie and her boyfriend Roberto, came to visit me from Boca Raton, FL this weekend and since I am pretty new to the city life too, we decided to have a full SF tourist weekend.
I am such a fan of bright, bright colors because to me, they bring about such a happy feeling whether it’s in my surroundings, the food I am eating or even what I am wearing. Whenever I travel to somewhere warm, like Mexico for example, I love to pack all of my bright outfits.
I have to say that the early morning is one of my favorite times of the day. I love the quiet peacefulness of the world when everyone in it is just waking up. It was so relaxing to just sit on the beach and watch the day begin.
Two days before my family left for Mexico for the holidays in December, we moved to San Francisco! It was more of a drop everything and go type of move since we were leaving on vacation, so I am so excited to finally have some down time to explore my new neighborhood.
Yesterday, we stumbled upon this picturesque margarita shack on our afternoon beach walk and I just had to share it with all of you. If I were to run away, this is probably where you could find me!
We are about half way through October, which means that Fall is in full swing. This past weekend, I had an exceptionally “Fall” day where I went to a pumpkin patch, made homemade pumpkin bread and drank pumpkin ale with friends, all while finally wearing boots and a scarf! So, I thought that I would share some of my favorite Fall activities with all of you to help you enjoy this beautiful and colorful season.
It is finally starting to feel like fall which means that it's time to start participating in all of the activities that make this season so special like visiting a pumpkin patch, drinking hot beverages and going apple picking!
Those of you who know me well know that two of my favorite things in this world are country music and fantastic wine. So, this past weekend when I was invited to a private wine tasting event and country concert at Gargiulo Vineyards, I was so excited. Gargiulo Vineyards is located in Oakville which is only about an hour away from our good family friend’s home in Santa Rosa, so I decided to make a weekend out of it.
Oh how I have missed you all! I am so sorry that I have not been very active on rachaelclairesf recently but things were pretty hectic after returning home from Europe and I think that I just needed to take some time for myself. But, I am very excited about the next chapter so I wanted to give you a quick update on what I have been up to for the last month!
Happy Monday everyone! I hope that you all had a fantastic weekend and are ready to take on the week! I am leaving on Wednesday for Mexico for 5 days, and then the following week will be leaving on a 3 week journey through Europe, so this weekend I really wanted to spend time with friends and family locally.
You know how I said a few weeks ago that I really want to do a better job of exploring this beautiful state I live in, well I took a step in the right direction this past weekend. I went on two incredible hikes that truly showcased what northern California has to offer.
Happy Tuesday everyone! I don’t know about you, but I am trying to recuperate from a fantastic long weekend. I spent mine doing some of the things that I love most including hiking, going to the farmer’s market, riding rollercoasters at the county fair and feasting on the 4th of July.
Being raised in Northern California meant that I developed an appreciation for great wine early on. Trips to Napa and Sonoma were always on the list of places to visit when friends and family came into town, and my dad quickly became a wine connoisseur. What I didn’t understand until recently though, was that there are some fantastic wineries outside of the Wine Country that people don’t usually think of.
Now that I am home from Mexico, and settling into post-grad life, I have been thinking about mini trips I want to take before I start working full-time in the fall. Even though I grew up in California, I sometimes feel like I have not taken the time to fully explore the state now that I am older.
I am working part-time this summer at the company I worked for last year, so that leaves plenty of time for weekend adventures with friends.
Here are some of the places I am planning weekend getaways to:
It has been a few days since I graduated from Wake Forest, and I finally had time today to sit down and reflect on the weekend’s festivities. I cannot thank all of my family members who came from San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta and Charlotte to celebrate with me. You all made this weekend so special and one that I will never forget.
Here are some of my favorite moments from the weekend!
Last night at our year-end golf banquet, I tried to make a speech about just how much my coaches and teammates have meant to me over the years, but I wasn’t able to finish because I got so emotional thinking about all that we have been through together. So, I wanted to take this chance to write out what I couldn’t say.
I hope that everyone had a great weekend, and got through the Monday Scaries in one piece. For me, this was the first weekend when it really hit me that I will be graduating. We are officially in the final countdown: 5 days of classes and less than 1 month until graduation! As sad as I am that this chapter is coming to a close, I think that I am at a place where I am ready to move on and see what’s in store for my future. With that being said, I am excited about the next few weeks because we have so many “lasts” and graduation activities coming up!
Growing up in Northern California meant that I was constantly hearing about the latest and greatest in technology since my dad worked in tech and so did most of my friend’s parents as well. I grew up with the appreciation not only for how much work went into creating these product and companies but also for how it made the customer feel and what problems it helped solve. Since I moved away and don’t necessarily hear about tech on a daily basis, I love to stay up on new products that come into the market!
Here are 3 stylish tech gadgets that I recently found and want to order immediately!!
In the past couple of weeks, we have been fortunate (in my California Girl’s mind) to have some snow touch down in Winston-Salem, NC! Since we live in a town that rarely sees snow, the city doesn’t quite know how to clean up the streets in a timely manner. I’m sure that some people living in Winston find this to be inconvenient, but as a college student, it’s AMAZING because we get the day off from school!
2016 is here, and I am in shock, partially because I just can’t believe how fast time is passing, but also because this is the year that I will be graduating from Wake Forest!
January was a pretty busy month for me with spending the first week in Mexico, the second week in Vegas for the Consumer Electronic Show, and the third getting settled back in at Wake for my final semester, so I didn’t have a chance to sit down and write down my resolutions for the New Year! I decided that February 1 would be my January 1 in a way. Here are a few resolutions that I came up with.
Happy Monday everyone! Well we had another fun filled weekend here in SF, although technically most of our activities actually took us out of the city. On Friday, Callie, Roberto and I decided to chase the warm weather and take a day trip to the Wine Country.
