7 Activities to Check off your Fall Bucket List
/We are about half way through October, which means that Fall is in full swing. This past weekend, I had an exceptionally “Fall” day where I went to a pumpkin patch, made homemade pumpkin bread and drank pumpkin ale with friends, all while finally wearing boots and a scarf! So, I thought that I would share some of my favorite Fall activities with all of you to help you enjoy this beautiful and colorful season.
1. Make a meal out of fall vegetables
Creamy Pumpkin Sage Soup anyone?! One of my best friends found this recipe the other day and I am so excited to try it out. If you hadn’t noticed, I am really loving pumpkin this year so I know this will be absolutely delicious!
2. Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Who doesn’t visit a pumpkin patch during the month of October?! Probably no one, but as we get older and our jobs start to take up more and more of our lives, the little fun activities that we have always done, start to fall by the waste side. I challenge you to visit your local pumpkin patch this weekend and maybe even carve a pumpkin or two. Your inner child will thank you!
3. Go Wine Tasting
Living so close to the Wine County in Northern California has really spoiled me because I have grown accustomed to jumping in the car and arriving at a beautiful winery 1.5 hours later! This past year, I have visited several different wineries throughout the year but I am the most excited to go wine tasting with friends when all of the vines turn a beautiful yellow/gold.
Chances are, no matter where you live, there is probably a winery not too far from your house. It might not be Napa wines, but the experience will be worth it!
4. Pick your own Apples
Apple picking is one activity that I make sure to partake in every October. There is nothing better than driving to an apple farm with a bunch of friends to pick apples, drink apple cider and if you’re lucky, eating apple cider doughnuts! It’s almost the end of apple picking season though, so I would plan this activity sooner rather than later…
5. Enjoy all things Pumpkin
Enjoying homemade pumpkin bread is one of the things that always makes me feel like hunkering down with a cozy blanket to watch a movie on a crisp Fall Sunday. I recently found a recipe that is basic, easy to follow and turns out absolutely delicious!! Try whipping this up one Sunday morning and you’ll feel Fall all around you.
7. Try a Beer Crawl
One thing that I have really grown to like is great beer! If you are in Northern California, I would recommend checking out Lagunitas, 21st Amendment and Berryessa Brewing Company. Sometimes all you really need is great friends, a cool atmosphere and a cold beer.
6. Go on a hike
Depending on where you live, this may be the last month that you can really take advantage of being outdoors before temperatures really drop. The leaves on the trees are starting to change colors and nothing will make you feel more at peace than going on a hike, bundled up and enjoying the reds, oranges and yellows of the season.
What are some of your favorite Fall activities?
XOXO,
Rachael Claire
