In the past couple of weeks, we have been fortunate (in my California Girl’s mind) to have some snow touch down in Winston-Salem, NC! Since we live in a town that rarely sees snow, the city doesn’t quite know how to clean up the streets in a timely manner. I’m sure that some people living in Winston find this to be inconvenient, but as a college student, it’s AMAZING because we get the day off from school!

Being raised in California meant that we never ever got snow days to look forward to during the winter. Instead, we would have the “rainy season” which would seem to last for months on end. Living in NC for the past few years has been an exciting adventure for me because I finally get to experience snow.

Some of my friends from the North laugh at me because I get so excited when it starts to snow, even if we only get one or two inches. I feel a little bit like Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls when I say this, but to me, the snow is magical. I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning when I wake up to a fresh coat of snow.

So far this winter, I think that we have only had a total accumulation of about 6 inches, but to me, that’s more than enough.
