Sunny Half Moon Bay Days
Location: Half Moon Bay, CA

If you were anywhere around the San Francisco Bay Area this weekend, then you already know how beautiful it was! We woke up on Saturday morning after a full day of wine tasting in Santa Rosa and decided to head to the coast.
For those of you not from this area, Sam's Chowder House is a local favorite in Half Moon Bay that serves up the most delicious seafood everything! There is always a very long wait to get a table, so we decided to get there right when they opened at 11am. Thankfully we were seated right away and were able to get a spot outside on the back deck overlooking the water.
I was so excited to have such a sunny and beautiful day in a typically overcast/foggy place especially since it was Callie and Roberto's last day in California. So, we ordered up some festive drinks (Mimosas anyone?) and started with fresh calamari and spicy popcorn shrimp... Delish! But then it was my classic Fish and Chips that really put the meal over the edge.
Since it was so beautiful, we decided to walk around a little bit after lunch and go down by the water. The plan was to buy fresh crab and other fish for dinner that night, but figured that our big fish lunch at Sam's was enough for one day. It was so fun though to people watch down by the crab boats, and even see a few Sea Urchins! Next time I will have to plan ahead and bring back some delicious crabs for dinner!
On the way home, we decided to drive along Route 1 and take in the scenery. Wow! It was so beautiful that we had to pull over at one point and just take it all in. It's sad to say but sometimes I take for granted how beautiful Northern California really is. We are so fortunate to have the sea, mountains, vineyards and city all within driving distance.
I've recently been talking a lot about moving out of California, but it's days like these that make me want to reconsider.
XOXO,
Rachael Claire
